Actor believes that sensitive issues in films shouldn't be the reason they get banned on both sides of the border
Saif Ali Khan is not too pleased with his neighbouring country. Having faced a ban in Pakistan on his previous filmAgent Vinod, Saifâs Phantombore the same fate after our Censor boardâs final verdict declared his movie inappropriate to be screened in Pakistan.
In an interview with DNA, the Bollywood actor seemed visibly upset following the ban on his film, however, he was not surprised that it suffered this fate.
âI donât have faith in Pakistan, generally. Neither do I understand what their thought processes are. I have no problems against Pakistan and I wonât make a film thatâs against the country. But now they have banned the film. We have always shared a very complicated relationship. If you tell uncomfortable truths, films gets banned. We keep banning each otherâs films,â he expressed.
Speaking about how the ban would affect the film, he admitted that it meant Phantom would rake in lesser profits because of the high Bollywood demand here. âWe might have made a little bit more money. I remember Race made some money, so there is a market there. The irony is that everybody is going to watch it anyway on pirated DVDs. Thatâs what happens a lot in Pakistan,â said Saif.
He feels issues should not be taken up in a sensitive manner otherwise it will restrict screening Bollywood films in Pakistan. âIf you try making a film which portrays a certain element of truth, something that makes Pakistan a little bit uncomfortable, they will ban it. They did that with many of my films, so I have faced it already. But that doesnât necessarily dictate what kind of movies we should make. If that did, we would end up making only films like Race,â stressed the actor.
Regarding extremists, the actor believes that while there may be a few in India and Pakistan, majority of the population is peaceful: âI am sure, there must be areas. I think the world has sections of people who are extremists. There must be people who say Pakistan is the villain or someone who says some other religion is bad. But I think the majority of the population is peace-loving, be it in India or Pakistan. The enormous success of Bajrangi Bhaijaan shows that most people would like a Utopian situation,â he said.
While his film might not gather the same profits if it would have been screened in Pakistan, the actor is still positive about his film.
When asked if the delay in Phantomâs release could generate negative publicity the actor said: âThat could happen, but I donât think that has happened with Phantom. I think the release date is perfect. We have the Rakhi weekend. And itâs releasing after Bajrangi Bhaijaan. All these are positives for the film. Generally, a delay is definitely not a good idea,â said Saif.
The film has garnered major backlash in Pakistan due to its content.
Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif and megastar Saif Ali Khan are battling against all odds for the release of their filmPhantom in Pakistan after facing major backlash for content-related issues.
When Jamat-ud-Dawah chief Hafiz Saeed filed a petition in the Lahore High Court seeking a ban on Phantomâs release in Pakistan due to âfilthy propagandaâ against our country, the two actors jumped to its rescue.
âIt is logical that Pakistan will have problems with this film. A person is doing wrong and the country is not doing wrong. One of the villains in the film may be from Pakistan but that doesnât mean Pakistan is a villainous country,â said Katrina, reported NDTV.
Katrina presented director Kabir Khanâs take on the film and tried to explain it through his eyes. âHe (Kabir) feels that the country has suffered and not that the country is bad. There is a lot of conflict and upheaval between the two countries so there will be stories on it,â she said.
She added that although the film does contain fictional matter regarding the 26/11 incident, it is predominantly based on facts.
She said: âThere is a very significant portrayal of Pakistan in the film, about someone who is in Pakistan. I think we are not here to preach. We are here to make an amazing story. But it has got its facts and base in the right place.â
While she did admit that initially she was doubtful about doing the film, Kabirâs passion and the message behind the film pushed her to say yes.
âThe moment I heard the story, I told Kabir, âAre you sure you want to do this?â. But he was passionate about the story. It has an important message and beyond that, it is a fiction film. It is an exciting thriller,â said the actress.
Phantom, scheduled to release on Aug 28, is a film which deals with the aftermath of 26/11 attacks in Mumbai and global terrorism.
LAHORE: Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan of the LHC will take up on Monday the petition of Jamatud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed challenging exhibition of an upcoming Indian movie âPhantomâ in Pakistan.
Through Advocate A K Dogar, Mr Saeed states in his petition that the film contains venom against Pakistan and the JuD.
He said apparently the film is about the 2008 Mumbai attacks and global terrorism.
He says the film contains filthy propaganda against Pakistan using global terrorism as a pretext.
He prays to the court to ban the exhibition of the film in the country for its âanti-Pakistanâ content.
The govt informs the LHC that it has received no request from the producer of âPhantomâ to show the movie in Pakistan. âAFP/File
LAHORE: A lawyer for Hafiz Mohammed Saeed said on Thursday that a court has banned an upcoming Bollywood movie that âimaginesâ his client being assassinated.
Saeed, who has a $10 million bounty on his head over his alleged involvement in the 2008 Mumbai attacks, had petitioned the Lahore High Court to ban the film âPhantomâ in Pakistan, saying it posed a threat to his life and was Indian propaganda meant to hurt Pakistan's image.
âIt is absurd to say that (Saeed) is linked to the attacks in Mumbai,â said lawyer A.K. Dogar. âWe hope the government will take steps to implement the court order.â
According to a court document, the government informed the Lahore High Court that it had received no request from the producer of âPhantomâ to show the movie in Pakistan.
âPhantomâ will be released in India on August 28.
A brief statement from the court announcing the decision did not give its reason for banning the film.
There was no immediate reaction from the film's producer. Director Kabir Khan has been quoted as saying that Saeed is the one who is spreading a hate agenda.
In Phantom, based on the novel âMumbai Avengersâ by S. Hussain Zaidi, Indian spies target those behind the Mumbai siege, a three-day rampage in India's financial capital that left 166 people dead.
But unlike the novel, which used pseudonyms for those accused of plotting the attack, âPhantomâ apparently names Saeed, as well as American David Coleman Headley, who was sentenced to 35 years in a US prison for his role in planning the siege.
Authorities in the United States and India blamed the militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba, which is seen as a front for Hafiz Saeed's Jamaatud Dawa (JuD), for carrying out the Mumbai assault.
Once again Good evening and Asalam'O Allikum So our Topic is Hate Terrorism not Terrorism some where i heard that"Buray log nahi bura unkakaam hota hy Nafraat unke kaam se kro unse nahi" when i heard this i though "kya farq parta hy wo aur unka kaam ek hi cheez tu hy'' but No aisa bilkul nai hy mujhe ye baat dair se samjh ai but there is a saying dair aya durust aya lets come to the point People around the Globe Especially Westerns Thinksthat all terrorist are Muslims and almost all Muslims r Terrorist i will clear ur concept of terrorism and Muslims well atleast i try Terrorism has no religion first talk about Jihad what is it? u guys r mixing jihad with terrorism
WHAT JIHAD IS
The Arabic word "jihad" is often translated as "holy war," but in a purely linguistic sense, the word " jihad" means struggling or striving.
The arabic word for war is: "al-harb".
In a religious sense, as described by the Quran and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (s), "jihad" has many meanings. It can refer to internal as well as external efforts to be a good Muslims or believer, as well as working to inform people about the faith of Islam.
If military jihad is required to protect the faith against others, it can be performed using anything from legal, diplomatic and economic to political means. If there is no peaceful alternative, Islam also allows the use of force, but there are strict rules of engagement. Innocents - such as men, children, or invalids - must never be harmed, and any peaceful overtures from the enemy must be accepted.
Military action is therefore only one means of jihad, and is very rare. To highlight this point, the Prophet Mohammed told his followers returning from a military campaign: "This day we have returned from the minor jihad to the major jihad," which he said meant returning from armed battle to the peaceful battle for self-control and betterment.
In case military action appears necessary, not everyone can declare jihad. The religious military campaign has to be declared by a proper authority, advised by scholars, who say the religion and people are under threat and violence is imperative to defend them. The concept of "just war" is very important.
The concept of jihad has been hijacked by many political and religious groups over the ages in a bid to justify various forms of violence. In most cases, Islamic splinter groups invoked jihad to fight against the established Islamic order. Scholars say this misuse of jihad contradicts Islam.
Examples of sanctioned military jihad include the Muslims' defensive battles against the Crusaders in medieval times, and before that some responses by Muslims against Byzantine and Persian attacks during the period of the early Islamic conquests.
WHAT JIHAD IS NOT
Jihad is not a violent concept.
Jihad is not a declaration of war against other religions. It is worth noting that the Koran specifically refers to Jews and Christians as "people of the book" who should be protected and respected. All three faiths worship the same God. Allah is just the Arabic word for God, and is used by Christian Arabs as well as Muslims.
Military action in the name of Islam has not been common in the history of Islam. Scholars says most calls for violent jihad are not sanctioned by Islam.
Warfare in the name of God is not unique to Islam. Other faiths throughout the world have waged wars with religious justifications

Katrina Kaif was born in Hong Kong to a Kashmiri father Mohammed Kaif and an English mother, Susanna Turquotte, a British citizen. Her parents divorced when she was very young. Katrina once stated, âMy dad, unfortunately, and not out of choice, has had no influence on our upbringing, on our religious or social or moral bearings.â
When she came to India, she changed her surname to that of her fatherâs, Kaif, because it was of Indian origin. Her original name is Katrina Turquotte. She also claims that she changed her surname to Kaif after cricketer Mohammad Kaif as he was on top at that time!
Her father, Mohammad Kaif, lives in America and is quite a well â to â do businessman. He is very decent and an affluent person. But he has no interest in reaching out to his family.
Mohammed Kaif parted ways with wife Suzzane when Katrina was very young. Seems like Katrina has no plans to get in touch with her dad now that she has become a big star! She said that her parents went their own ways due to personal issues. She knows that he wonât come back just because she is famous. Her dad is a closed topic for her family, says Katrina!
But the lovely lady misses her dad badly. Katrina went to an undisclosed location in Italy with her family for her birthday. Looked like she missed her dad there too! Katrina, who was raised by her mom Suzzane, a Harvard graduate and a lawyer, confessed that she misses her dad whenever she sees fathers of her friends. She said that her mom did a fine job in raising seven children. She added that she should be grateful for all the other things she has!
Director Kabir Khan's Phantom has started making headlines ever since the film's first look and trailer has come out.
Now, the first song from the movie has been released. Titled,'Aghan Jalebi...', it features Katrina Kaif who looks smoking hot. This sonf differes from Katrina's last item song 'Mashalla Mashalla...' from the movie Ek Tha Tiger. In this one, the actress does not show any of her moves
but is just sitting and gazing at other dancers. The song is its catchy beats, while some unwanted lyrics could have been avoided. The song has been sung by Pakistani singer Asrar and is composed by Pritam. The movie, which is based on the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, stars Katrina Kaif and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles.
i heard many times that non muslims says that Islam is religion of hate terror and war it's not like that you guys don't even know that meaning of word Islam so how can u judge us (muslims) if ur r saying that islam is religion of hate after 9/11 incident then they were just taking revenge
Revenge of their families that were died in Afghanistan , Iran , Iraq, Palestine, Pakistan and many other Islamic country
I'm not saying that taking revenge is right but u can't call it wrong either
well, we will talk about it later filhal the topic is Islam is religion or peace love and humanity
Islam is a religion of peace in the fullest sense of the word. The Qurâan calls its way âthe paths of peaceâ (5:16). It states that God abhors any disturbance of peace (2:205).
In fact the root word of Islam is âsilmâ which itself means peace. So the spirit of Islam is the spirit of peace. The first verse of the Qurâan breathes the spirit of peace. It reads: In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
A perusal of the Qurâan shows that most verses of the Qurâan (and also the Hadith) are based on peace and kindness, either directly or indirectly. The ideal society, according to the Qurâan is Dar as-Salam, that is, the house of peace (10:25).
Islam attaches great importance to peace. In fact, Islam cannot afford not to be in a state of peace because all that Islam aims atâspiritual progress, intellectual development, character building, social reform, educational activities, and above all Missionary work âcan be achieved only in an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
According to Islam, peace is not simply an absence of war. Peace opens doors to all kinds of opportunities that are present in any given situation. It is only in a peaceful situation that planned activities are possible. It is for this reason that the Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him) went to great extents to establish peace at all costs.
According to Islam, peace is the rule and war is only an exception. Even in defensive war we have to see the result. If the result is doubtful, Muslims should avoid war, even in a defensive situation. Stray acts of aggression are not enough for Muslims to rush into war. They have to assess the whole situation and adopt a policy of avoidance when war is not certain to achieve a positive result. This can be seen from the examples given in the articles of this section as was in the case of the battle of the trench. In this event there was clear-cut aggression on the part of the antagonists, who traveled as far as 300 miles from Mecca to Medina only to attack the Muslims. But the Prophet got a trench dug in order to prevent an armed confrontation and thus avoided engaging in a defensive war.
Thus Islam is a religion of peace in the complete sense of the word. Every teaching of Islam is based on the principles of peace and avoidance. Any deviation from the model is a deviation from Islam and is due to misconceptions. We should, therefore, understand the ideology of peace given in Islam and base our actions upon this ideology so that peace will prevail in the world
There have been several rumors regarding the relationship between Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif after they were spotted in Ibiza together. While the couple tried to maintain a low-profile, there have been several reports of the âBombay Velvetâ actor and his girlfriend ready to make things official.
(
Engagement and marriage rumors have been rounding between Kapoor and Kaif for a long time since they were with her family in London over Christmas holidays. While the couple just recently admitted they are in love, reports confirmed their commitment to each other after previously shutting down rumors.
However, all those reports have been shut down by Kaif, who recently revealed in an interview that she is âdefinitely not engaged.â
âI know you guys are so sweet and you seem to want me to get married but there are no such plans as of now. So please bear with me being not married for some more time,â added Kaif.
However, Kapoor did previously reveal that they are both planning to get married by the end of 2016.
Rumors rounded that Kapoor&Kaif got engaged on july 17, which was her birthday, in Alibaug. Now, the actor is apparently confirming the news and admitted that he popped the question to his longtime girlfriend.
A source told Bollywood Life that he has decided to give Kaif the best gift a girlfriend could ever ask for, an expensive platinum and diamond eternity band from the luxury Parisian brand Van Cleef and Arpels. The actor got it custom made with Kaifâs initials on it, but we still donât know if the âKKâ stands for âKatrina Kaifâ or âKatrina Kapoor.â
Rumors about Kaif and Kapoor trying to tie the knot next year has been making rounds, but the actor admitted to Anand Bazaar Patrika in an interview in May that, âThis year both of us are extremely busy, so there wonât be any time for the marriage. We have planned to tie the knot by the end of next year. Both of us have agreed on that.â
âBoth of us are sure about our relationship and if we donât open about it now, it would be showing disrespect to the relationship. I am 33 now and its time I have my family,â continued Kapoor. âEven Katrina wants that. I have grown up in a family where film is everything. So I know the importance of gossip and my funda is simple. When there is gossip, try not to react and it is advisable not to think too much about yourself.â
